Contra Iudam / Against Judas

Cathedral of Autun, France, Hanging of Judas

Pì lu coddu appizzatu finistivu,
vui, Iudas Iscariotes, cà tradituri fustivu...
cà pì trenta dinari lu Signuruzzu vinnistivu...

et pì vui megghiu a nasciri nun avissivu avutu!
Certu 'nu duluri comu vui fari l'omu poti...
da lu Signuri luntanu...ma chistu facistu pì avaritia...
pirchì lu diavulu vi cunvincìu...accussì in nomu dâ morti!

English:

To neck hung you ended ...
you, Judas Iscariot, the traitor who you were ...
for thirty pieces of silver to the Lord ... you sold...
and for you to be born would not have had better!
Of course a pain as you do man puote ...
by the Lord away ... but this ye made to greed ...
because the devil is so convinced ... in the name of death!

I wrote this poetry in Macaronic-Latin-Sicilian language.
It is addressed to Judas Iscariot.
Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus Christ, is a figure that should be analyzed.
To some, he was a zealot that he expected a political agitator in Jesus Christ, when it was not so.
Christ was not a political agitator.
According to this view, he expected the striking miracle of Christ, that miracle which would defeat the Romans, those who governed the lands of Jerusalem.
Christ, however, it was quite another thing.
Jesus Christ was the Lamb of God, who sacrificed himself for the redemption of all of us.
Jude did not understand.
In truth, Judas is the man who turns away from God and wants to do it alone.
A man can break his friendship with God for a great pain or because he was taken from his vanity and his avarice.
Judas was boastful, because Jesus expected the miracle that would elevate himself, and stingy, because for thirty pieces of silver sold Jesus Christ and send him to the cross.
When he realized the gravity of what he did, Judas made another sin by hanging himself.
The man who turns away from God destroys others and himself.
With regard to the rulers, I am reminded of these words of George Washington, who said:

" It is impossible to govern with justice a nation without God ."
I thank my friend and collaborator Angelo Fazio of this sentence.
The man who turns away from God does damage to himself and to others.
Become a destructive and self-destructive.
If he has power damage is even more serious.
Best regards.
