I took this photo from Facebook group of the Amigos de la Embajada de Estados Unidos en Uruguay .United States of America has always been a beacon for the West, its values and its democracy.
I have always been a convinced atlantist.
However, I am noticing that today the wind of totalitarianism is blowing over the West like a downburst of a supercell thunderstorm.
It seems that the United States are also showing signs of weakness.
Americans reject all forms of totalitarianism and cancel culture.
May they carry the symbols of their history and culture aloft.
Americans, which are made up of people from other realities, such as the English, Scots, Germans, Irish, African Americans, Jews, Hispanics, Italians and others, and Natives people, do not accept the idea of the demolition of their own symbols.
Even with all its differences, America is a homeland.
A homeland has its own symbols, which represent its history.
Lately, however, even in US there is the disease of cancel culture.
Just think of those who in 2020 demolished statues or those who wanted to remove any reference to the Confederation.
The Civil War is also part of American history.
Indeed, this event is a fundamental stage in the history of the American people.
Similar ideas still cause damage today.
These things are not good.
In this way, identity of America is destroyed and a people without an identity is a people that dies.
Americans have always made a flagship of their identity.
Their motto reads: " Et pluribus unum ".
Despite their diversity, Americans are a people.
However, a people needs symbols.
Breaking down symbols and violating the language with "neutral expressions" is tantamount to making a people disappear.
What is happening here in Europe is killing the peoples of Europe.
In Europe cancel culture has already made its way.
In the name of equality, identities of European peoples are being erased and we are moving towards a real totalitarianism.
The US does not go this way.
I wish a happy 4th of July to American friends ... and to my relatives in New Jersey.
God bless America!
