Tony Abbott: "Foreign Purchases of Agricultural Land"

this is the message that Tony Abbott (Prime Minister of Australia) has sent to us, supporters of Liberal Party of Australia:


"Dear Antonio Gabriele,

Along with the Treasurer, Joe Hockey, and the Agriculture Minister, Barnaby Joyce, I have announced important changes to improve scrutiny and reporting of foreign purchases of agricultural land.

These changes mean:
The point at which foreign purchases of agricultural land will now need to be approved is $15 million instead of the current $252 million;
A foreign ownership register of agricultural land will be established;
The Australian Tax Office will start collecting information on all new foreign investment in agricultural land from July; and
A stocktake of existing agricultural land ownership by foreign interests will also be undertaken by the ATO.

Yesterday’s announcement is an important step to meeting our election commitment to better protect Australia’s national interests.

We are also considering the recommendations of an inquiry led by Kelly O’Dwyer MP regarding foreign investment in residential real estate.

There needs to be better enforcement of the rules for foreign purchases of existing homes, so young people are not priced out of the market.

The current laws were not legally enforced by the former Labor government – not once.

In coming weeks, the Government will announce details of the reforms to foreign investment in residential real estate.

This announcement means that Australia will continue to welcome foreign investment while the community can have confidence that the investment is coming in on our terms and for our nation’s benefit.

In my house, this is called defend their products and make the interest of his country, which Italy (my country) does not.
Italy, in fact, is a prisoner of this European Union and the prone and almost submissive accepts directives.
Thus, the rice produced here in the Province of Mantova (even here in Roncoferraro) faces competition of rice from Vietnam.
The olive oil of Garda, the Tuscan, the Abruzzo, the Apulian and Sicilian faces competition oils from Greece, Spain and Morocco.
The Sicilian oranges must compete with the Moroccan ones.
Italy does not defend its products, even for his choice to accept blindly the directives of this European Union.
Our companies are sold off to foreign entrepreneurs.
Australia, however, protect its products, while also encouraging foreign investment.
In practice, those who want to invest in Australia can do it but the game is led by the Australians.
This is to the interest of their country.

Le arance siciliane subiscono la concorrenza di quelle marocchine.

L'Italia non difende i suoi prodotti, anche per la sua scelta di accettare pedissequamente le direttive di questa Unione Europea.
Le nostre aziende vengono svendute ad imprenditori stranieri.

L'Australia, invece, tutela i suoi prodotti, pur favorendo anche gli investimenti stranieri.
In pratica, chi vuole investire in Australia può farlo ma il gioco è condotto dagli Australiani.
Questo è fare l'interesse del proprio Paese.
