To my followers in Uruguay: happy 187th anniversary of Uruguayan Constitution

Today, we celebrate the 187th anniversary of the oath on the Constitution of Uruguay.
Uruguay is a country historically linked to Italy, because of the presence of many Italians and their descendants.
I remember that 44% of Uruguayans are of Italian descent.
Italian citizens are well 71,115.
Many of them have dual citizenship.
49% of Italians in Uruguay comes from the regions of northern Italy, like Piedmont, Lombardy and Liguria.
The 17% comes from the central regions, such as Lazio and Abruzzo.
The remaining 34% of the south, including Sicily.
From Galati Mamertino (the country of my mother, in the Province of Messina) many people left for South America.
Indeed, for sixty years, the Italian language was taught as a compulsory subject in secondary schools Uruguayan.
Only in 2007 the teaching of the Italian language was abolished.
In Montevideo there is a private school (Italian School of Montevideo) around which is the best educated class of the Italian community in the capital. Currently there are also plans to open an Italian university.

Therefore, I hope that those who follow me happy Uruguay 187th anniversary of the oath on the Constitution of Uruguay.
By the way, I have contacts with Uruguay, thanks to my friend and partner Stephanie Caracciolo, who now consider almost like a sister.
Suffice to also think about the postcards that we sent and beyond.
