Dear friends
I start with a quote from William of Malmesbury (1080-1143) I was brought to the attention by his friend and collaborator Angelo Fazio:
" The Glastonbury Abbey emitted from the ground a reflection of the holiness of heaven and broadcast to the entire country ... In spite of changes in the centuries Glastonbury still remains "a heavenly sanctuary on Earth . "".
I thank Angelo. The Abbey Glastonbury was a major Catholic shrines of England.According to legend, it was founded by Joseph of Arimathea, who would arrive in Britain in 60 AD. There, he planted his stick that would become the plant of hawthorn tree had really existed and flourished at Christmas and in May, the month of the Virgin Mary. At Christmas, a thorn was given to the queen that put in to decorate the Christmas table. In 2010, unfortunately, this plant has been cut. It is thought that do what they have been of groups hostile to the monarchy and the Anglican Church. According to legend, the abbey was the place where King Arthur was buried. His tomb would be in the place where there was the church altar abbey. In 1534, King Henry VIII (1491-1547) decided to break with the Church of Rome. In 1536, he began the suppression of the monasteries by the Earl of Essex and Prime Minister Thomas Cromwell (1485-1540). The abbey was suppressed in 1539, when his last Abbot Richard Whiting was martyred, and was stripped of all his property. Now, I think that UNESCO would do well to declare the site as a "World Heritage Site" This site is now a place of pilgrimage of the three major Christian denominations, Catholic, Orthodox and Anglican. Here the various Christian Churches find peace,
