Our freedom is in danger

Dear friends,

this it was brought to the attention by my friend and partner Stephanie Caracciolo, whom I thank.
It shows US President Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826).
Tomorrow will be the Day of Press Freedom.
In the picture there is the Jefferson sentence which reads:

" Nuestra libertad depende de la libertad de prensa y eso no puede ser limitado since perderse ".

Our liberty depends on freedom of the press and can not be limited without being lost.
Now, here in Italy, our freedom is in risk.
In fact, the president of the Chamber of Deputies Laura Boldrini and Education Minister Valeria Fedeli want to impose Digital civic education in schools .
Certainly. it is useful if you teach children to use the internet.
However, the issue that prompted the president and the minister to do a thing is the issue of "fake news".
There are concerns that with this excuse you want to restrict press freedom.
In fact, here in Italy there is a strong debate about illegal immigration.
Laura Boldrini is pro-immigration.
I would not want the issue of "fake news" was used to silence certain critical voices against illegal immigration and other policies discussed a lot recently.
The contrast to the false news and defamation okay but restrict press freedom is a problem.
